Came across an
obstructed traffic island?
Send us a picture
Traffic islands are meant to serve as safety and utility zones helping pedestrians cross safely, guiding traffic flow, and keeping sightlines clear for drivers. When cluttered with beautification structures, advertisements, or encroachments, they can obstruct visibility, endanger pedestrians, and reduce road efficiency. Keeping them free ensures safety, accessibility, and smooth traffic movement.
Mumbai’s traffic islands are too often victims of so-called ‘beautification,’ sometimes carried out with misguided/ulterior motives. Join us in documenting these instances so that we can push for real accountability.
These are the locations we’ve mapped so far. Help us collect pictures from more areas so we can build a centralized database and present it to the BMC administration.
