About Us
Walking Project is a citizen-powered movement started in June 2012 to make our city's streets safer and better for walking. We believe walking should be easy, safe, and joyful for everyone, whether you're walking to work, the market, or just out for some fresh air. Founded by environmentalist Rishi Aggarwal along with Vivek Gilani, Amar Deshpande, Abhijit Mehta, and Pramod Dabrase, the project brings together everyday citizens, civic groups, and government agencies to reimagine how Mumbai moves. Our work blends community-building, media storytelling, public dialogues, and on-ground collaboration with local authorities. Whether it’s fixing a broken footpath or championing new ideas from around the world, we’re here to make sure Mumbai becomes a truly walkable city. One step at a time.
