The Walking Project is started by five Mumbai based environmental and governance activists with the aim of delivering on one sustainability goal by Rio + 30. The founders are Rishi Aggarwal, Amar Deshpande, Pramod Dabrase, Abhijit Mehta and Vivek Gilani.

The project is currently housed in Mumbai Environmental Social Network and No2Co2 Foundation but will soon be constituted as a separate Trust.
